TEXAS/OKLAHOMA PANHANDLES FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AMARILLO TX 322 PM CDT THU JUN 28 2001 PERSISTENT MID LEVEL LOW CONTINUES OVER THE ARKANSAS/MISSOURI STATE LINE THIS AFTERNOON. 12Z MODELS DEVELOP FAVORABLE 7H OMEGA FIELDS OVER PORTIONS OF THE EASTERN PANHANDLES DURING THE NEXT FEW HOURS. STRONG CONVECTION DEVELOPING ALONG SURFACE TROUGH OVER WESTERN OKLAHOMA. AIRMASS OVER THE FAR EASTERN PANHANDLES IS MODERATELY UNSTABLE WITH LAPS INDICATING CAPE VALUES AS HIGH AS 3500 J/KG OVER EASTERN LIPSCOMB COUNTY. CURRENT READINGS SHOWS TEMPERATURES APPROACHING THE UPPER 90S WITH DEW POINTS IN THE LOW 60S. ANOTHER AREA OF CONCERN IS THE NORTHWEST PANHANDLES.
