EASTERN OKLAHOMA/NORTHWEST ARKANSAS FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TULSA OK 1035 PM CDT WED MAY 24 2000 NOT MUCH TIME FOR DISCUSSION...WITH TORNADO/SEVERE WATCHES OVER NEARLY ALL OF FORECAST AREA THIS EVENING. FIRST CLUSTER OF SEVERE STORMS WHICH MOVED ACROSS NORTHEAST CORNER OF OKLAHOMA AND INTO NORTHWEST ARKANSAS HAS JUST ABOUT EXITED AREA...WHILE A SECOND CLUSTER OF SEVERE STORMS WAS BEGINNING TO MOVE IN FROM THE WEST. HAVE ALREADY SENT UPDATED ZONES TO INCREASE POPS AND WORD POSSIBLE HEAVY RAIN IN MORE ZONES. BIGGEST THREAT OF HEAVY RAIN APPEARS TO BE SETTING UP IN A 50 MILE WIDE ZONE EXTENDING FROM TULSA TO SILOAM SPRINGS ARKANSAS...WHICH WAS NORTH OF PRIMARY SURFACE BOUNDARY. THERE IS STILL SOME QUESTION AS TO HOW FAR SOUTH CONVECTION CAN DEVELOP GIVEN STRONG CAPPING STILL PRESENT IN SOUTHEAST OKLAHOMA AND WEST CENTRAL ARKANSAS. SURFACE LOW PRESSURE WAS LOCATED IN THE TEXAS PANHANDLE THIS EVENING SOUTHEAST OF AMARILLO. A FRONTAL BOUNDARY EXTENDED NORTHEAST FROM THE SURFACE LOW INTO NORTHWEST AND NORTH-CENTRAL OKLAHOMA.
