EASTERN CITRUS COUNTY IN WEST CENTRAL FLORIDA * UNTIL 945 PM EDT * AT 912 PM...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WAS INDICATED BY NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR ABOUT 5 MILES SOUTH OF INVERNESS NEAR OAK FOREST MOVING NORTH AT 10 MPH. * SOME LOCATIONS AFFECTED... WEST CENTRAL AND SOUTHWEST FLORIDA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TAMPA BAY AREA - RUSKIN FL 140 PM EDT WED JUN 14 2000 THE TUTT LOW THAT MOVED OVER THE STATE SEVERAL DAYS AGO CONTINUES TO DRIFT TO THE WEST SOUTHWEST OVER THE SOUTH CENTRAL GULF. THE DIFLUENCE ALOFT ON THE EAST SIDE HAS FIRED OFF CONSIDERABLE CONVECTION OVER THE LOOP CURRENT. MODELS HAVE A MIDLEVEL CIRCULATION WITH THE SYSTEM AND IF YOU LOOK HARD ENOUGH YOU CAN KIND OF SEE ONE ON VIS PIX. ANOTHER AREA OF DISTURBED WEATHER IS IN THE WESTERN CARIBBEAN...THIS APPEARS TO BE MOVING NORTHWEST. THE DEEP SUBTROPICAL RIDGE LOOKS LIKE IT WILL MOVE LITTLE THROUGH THE PERIOD...MEANDERING A LITTLE IN RESPONSE TO THE SYNOPTIC FLOW TO OUR NORTH. SUBSIDENCE AND DRIER AIR WANTS TO WORK ITS WAY IN FROM THE EAST AND THE NASSAU SOUNDING FROM THIS MORNING SHOWS PLENTY OF EACH. THE ETA AND NGM HAVE A SPOKE OF MOISTURE SWINGING AROUND THE MID LEVEL CIRCULATION IN THE GULF AND PHASING WITH THE CENTRAL COAST AREA AT ABOUT THE TIME OF MAX HEATING. THIS SEEMED TO CORRESPOND WELL WITH THE CONVECTION WE HAD OFF THE SOUTHWEST COAST THIS MORNING... BUT THAT AREA DOES NOT SEEM TO HAVE MADE MUCH NORTHWARD HEADWAY DURING THE DAY. I DO NOT PLAN MUCH OF A CHANGE FROM PERSISTENCE. I AM GOING TO INCREASE POPS A LITTLE FOR THURSDAY. WITH THE EASTERLY FLOW WE WILL SEE THE INCREASED LOW LEVEL CONVERGENCE AND MIXING OF LOW LEVEL MOISTURE. SUMMER IS HERE. I WILL GO A LITTLE HIGHER THAN GUIDANCE ON POPS AND STAY NEAR IT ON TEMPS.
