* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  SOUTHERN AND EASTERN SAN MATEO COUNTY IN CENTRAL CALIFORNIA
  NORTHWESTERN SANTA CLARA COUNTY IN CENTRAL CALIFORNIA

* UNTIL 1200 AM PST

* AT 700 PM PDT...AUTOMATED RAIN GAUGES INDICATED HEAVY RAIN IN
  SOUTHERN AND EASTERN SAN MATEO COUNTY AND ACROSS NORTHWESTERN
  SANTA CLARA COUNTY.

* AT 700 PM...THE STREAM GAGES ON BOTH THE PESCADERO CREEK IN
  SOUTHERN SAN MATEO COUNTY AND SAN FRANCISQUITO CREEK IN EASTERN
  SAN MATEO COUNTY/NORTHWESTERN SANTA CLARA COUNTY INDICATED THAT
  CREEK LEVELS WERE EACH WITHIN 1 FOOT OF FLOOD STAGE AND
  CONTINUING TO RISE STEADILY.

* RAIN RATES IN THE WARNING AREA HAVE RANGED FROM 0.25 TO 0.50 INCH
  PER HOUR FOR THE PAST COUPLE OF HOURS AND THIS RAIN IS EXPECTED TO
  CONTINUE FOR THE NEXT HOUR ACCORDING TO SATELLITE AND RADAR
  IMAGERY.   THIS EXPECTED RAINFALL ON TOP OF EARLIER PRECIPITATION
  WILL RESULT IN CONTINUED RISES ON THE PESCADERO AND SAN
  FRANCISQUITO CREEKS.


BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLASH FLOODS. IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED...
ACT QUICKLY. MOVE UP TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT STAY IN AREAS
SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT
AT NIGHT TO TELL HOW MUCH WATER IS ON ROADS. MOTORISTS SHOULD NOT
DRIVE THROUGH WATER OF UNKNOWN DEPTH.
