GILES COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA... * UNTIL 600 PM EDT. * AT 300 PM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A THUNDERSTORM WITH VERY HEAVY RAINFALL 8 MILES NORTHEAST OF PEARISBURG OR NEAR BUTT MOUNTAIN. THIS STORM WAS NEARLY STATIONARY. IN ADDITION...OTHER THUNDERSTORMS WITH HEAVY RAINFALL EXTEND FROM SOUTHWEST TO NORTHEAST ACROSS THE COUNTY. LOCATIONS THREATENED BY HEAVY RAIN THROUGH 600 PM EDT INCLUDE PEARISBURG... PEMBROKE... SLOW MOVING THUNDERSTORMS ARE PRODUCING TORRENTIAL RAINFALL IN THE WARNED AREA.
