CLEARWATER COUNTY IN CENTRAL IDAHO IDAHO COUNTY IN CENTRAL IDAHO * UNTIL 1015 AM PDT (1115 AM MDT) * AT 918 AM PDT (1018 AM MDT)...RADAR INDICATED SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS FROM 71 MILES NORTH OF RED RIVER HOT SPRINGS TO 23 MILES SOUTH OF RED RIVER HOT SPRINGS...OR FROM 39 MILES SOUTHWEST OF ST. WESTERN MONTANA AND NORTH CENTRAL IDAHO FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MISSOULA MT 945 AM MDT THU AUG 24 2000 ZONES HAVE ALREADY BEEN UPDATED. A LINE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS OVER IDAHO COUNTY CONTINUES TO MOVE EAST. THIS ACTIVITY IS ASSOCIATED WITH A VORT MAX MOVING THROUGH THE AREA AND SUPPORTED BY 70 KNOT JET. THIS ACTION SHIFTS INTO WEST CENTRAL/SOUTHWEST MONTANA BY NOON... WHERE ATMOSPHERE BECOMES VERY UNSTABLE WITH EXCELLENT DYNAMICS NEAR JET AND PASSING VORT MAX. BESIDES FREQUENT LIGHTNING THE STORMS POSE A THREAT OF STRONG WINDS WITH AN OUTSIDE CHANCE THE WINDS COULD BE UP TO SEVERE LEVELS. JUST GOT A CALL FROM IMET NEAR GRANGEVILLE WITH GUSTS UP TO 50-60 MPH IN THE OUTFLOW BEHIND STORMS. FURTHER TO THE NORTH EXPECT ONLY ISOLATED SHOWERS/THUNDERSTORMS. ALL ACTIVITY LIKELY TO BE ENDING BY LATE AFTERNOON FROM THE WEST...BUT WILL LEAVE A SLIGHT CHANCE FOR TONIGHT IN MONTANA ZONES. WEST MT SFP WILL BE UPDATED. BELTZ
