SOUTHWEST OREGON/NORTHERN CALIFORNIA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MEDFORD OR 230 PM PDT MON JUL 17 2000 TWO VORT CENTERS HAVE MOVED NORTH OF THE AREA EARLY THIS AFTERNOON... AND MOIST AND UNSTABLE CONDITIONS ARE STILL IN PLACE WITH DEVELOPING CU UNDERWAY. THE CUMULUS ISNT TOO EXCITING HOWEVER...AND WILL TRIM BACK 1ST PD POPS A BIT OVER SOME ZONES. AS FORCING SEEMS LIMITIED TO LOW-LEVEL CONVERGENCE NEAR THE HIGHER TERRAIN. SOME STORMS TONIGHT COULD PRODUCE LOCALLY HEAVY DOWNPOURS...PEA-SIZE HAIL...AND GUSTY WINDS TO 40 MPH. UPPER LEVEL PATTERN ISNT FORECAST TO CHANGE DRAMATICALLY FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS AS AN UPPER LOW DANCES AROUND 140W WELL OFFSHORE...AND A PROMINENT UPPER RIDGE REMAINS PLANTED OVER THE SOUTH-CENTRAL US.
