AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEW ORLEANS/BATON ROUGE LA 300 PM CST NOV 08 2000 SEVERE WEATHER AND HEAVY RAINFALL EXPECTED UNTIL EARLY THU MORNING. WARM MOIST UNSTABLE AIRMASS WILL PERSIST AHEAD OF THE ADVANCING SQUALL LINE AND COLD FRONT. EXPECT THE FRONT TO BEGIN ACCELERATING EAST ONCE THE SURFACE LOW MOVES INTO NORTHEAST LOUISIANA. EXPECT THE SQUALL LINE TO MOVE INTO THE WESTERN PART OF THE CWA...BATON ROUGH AREA... BETWEEN 9 PM AND MIDNIGHT AND CONTINUE EAST INTO THE NEW ORLEANS AREA AROUND 3 AM THU MORNING. BY THIS TIME THE FRONT AND SQUALL LINE SHOULD BE MOVING ON RAPIDLY EASTWARD WITH WITH SKIES CLEARING RAPIDLY FROM THE WEST DURING THE DAY THU. TEMPS MAY BE A LITTLE OFF DUE TO THE TIMING OF THE FRONT. WENT PRIMARILY WITH THE MOS GUIDANCE FROM THE MRF FOR TEMPS AND POPS IN THE EXTENDED PORTION OF THE FORECAST. EXPECT HEAVY RAINFALL OF ONE TO TWO INCHES. SEE NO THREAT OF SIGNIFICANT FLOODING SINCE THE FRONT WILL BE MOVING EAST AT 15 TO 20 KT AND INDIVIDUAL TSTMS WILL BE MOVING NORTHEAST IN EXCESS OF 25 KT.
