CENTRAL GREENVILLE COUNTY IN UPSTATE SOUTH CAROLINA * UNTIL 515 PM EDT * AT 435 PM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WITH LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS OVER GREENVILLE... AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE GREENVILLE-SPARTANBURG SC 200 PM EDT TUE JUN 20 2000 SOME INTERESTING WEATHER FEATURES FOR THE AREA THIS EVENING. A COLD FRONT WAS HOLDING NEARLY STATIONARY ACROSS THE AREA THIS AFTERNOON FROM JUST SOUTH OF THE CHARLOTTE METROPOLITAN AREA TO NEAR RUTHERFORDTON AND THEN NORTHWARD THRU THE NC MTNS. NORTH OF THE FRONT...IN THE NORTH CAROLINA PIEDMONT AND FOOTHILLS...TEMPERATURES WERE IN THE LOW AND MIDDLE 70S. MIDDLE AND UPPER 80S WERE COMMON SOUTH OF THE FRONT WITH UPPER 70S AND LOWER 80S WEST OF THE FRONT IN THE MTNS. AN UPPER DISTURBANCE WILL PUSH ACROSS THE CWA LATE THIS AFTN AND THIS EVENING ACCOMPANIED BY SCATTERED SHOWERS AND TSTMS. THE SHOWERS BEGAN OVER EXTREME SOUTHWEST NC AND NE GA EARLY IN THE AFTERNOON AND WILL INCREASE IN INTENSITY AND COVERAGE AS THEY SPREAD EAST THROUGH THIS EVENING.
