SOUTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA/NORTH CENTRAL KANSAS FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HASTINGS NE
235 PM CDT SUN JUL 2 2000

TYPICAL EARLY JULY FORECAST...HOT AND HUMID.

MODELS NOT IN GREAT AGREEMENT TODAY WITH NGM THE ODD MAN OUT. AVN A
LITTLE SLOWER AND WEAKER AS NORMAL SO WILL GO WITH AN ETA/AVN
COMPROMISE WITH EMPHASIS ON ETA.

WEAK SURFACE BOUNDARY IN AREA THIS EVENING BUT WITH NO UPPER SUPPORT
AND WARM TEMPERATURES ALOFT...NOT MUCH TO OCCUR WITH BOUNDARY. DEW
POINTS HAVE DRIED OUT IN WESTERN PORTION OF FORECAST AREA INTO THE
MIDDLE 60S...BUT MIDDLE 70S REMAIN OVER EASTERN PORTION. WITH WEAK
WINDS AND CLEAR SKIES...TEMPS IN DRIER AIR TO FALL BACK QUICKLY BUT
MOISTURE WILL PUSH BACK INTO THE WEST. SO SHOULD SEE AN EARLY LOW
WITH TEMPERATURES REBOUNDING AS MOISTURE FLOWS BACK. LOWS SHOULD
RANGE FROM THE UPPER 60S NORTH AND WEST TO THE MIDDLE 70S SOUTH.

A HOT AND HUMID DAY FORECAST FOR MONDAY WITH NO SUPPORT FOR
STORMS. TEMPERATURES TO CLIMB INTO THE 90S MOST AREAS. DEW POINTS
IN THE UPPER 60S TO MIDDLE 70S TO MAKE FOR RATHER STUFFY DAY.

WEAK UPPER WAVE TO MOVE INTO REGION MONDAY NIGHT AND WITH ABUNDANT
MOISTURE...WILL CONTINUE MARGINAL CHANCE FOR STORMS. BEST CHANCES
WILL BE IN THE NORTH AND WEST WHERE UPPER SUPPORT TO BE GREATER.

WAVE MOVES ON EAST FOR THE HOLIDAY AND SURFACE TROF TO REMAIN OUT
WEST SO IT SHOULD BE ANOTHER HOT...HUMID AND SOMEWHAT BREEZY DAY.
UNDER PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES...TEMPERATURES AGAIN TO CLIMB INTO THE
90S.

ANOTHER WAVE AND SURFACE TROF HELP TO BRING CHANCE FOR STORMS ON
WEDNESDAY SO WILL ALSO CONTINUE CHANCES IN FIRST PERIOD OF THE
EXTENDED. AFTER THAT...DONT SEE MUCH CHANGE TO THE TYPICAL SUMMER
WEATHER PATTERN IN THE DROUGHT REGION OF THE CENTRAL PLAINS.
TEMPERATURES TO BE AROUND 70 OVERNIGHT AND IN THE 90S DURING THE
DAY.

GID...NONE.

SEVERE WEATHER OUTLOOK - SOUTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA/NORTH CENTRAL KANSAS
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HASTINGS NE
543 PM CDT SUN JUL 2 2000

...SPOTTER ACTIVATION IS NOT EXPECTED THIS EVENING OR TONIGHT
ACROSS SOUTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA OR NORTH CENTRAL KANSAS...

THUNDERSTORMS HAVE DEVELOPED ACROSS NORTHWEST KANSAS AND HAVE BEEN
SPREADING VERY SLOWLY EAST. THESE STORMS COULD DEVELOP EASTWARD INTO
THE STOCKTON AND PLAINVILLE AREAS THIS EVENING. HEAVY RAIN AND
POSSIBLY MODERATE TO LARGE HAIL WOULD BE THE MAIN THREATS.

FARTHER NORTH....THUNDERSTORMS HAVE BEEN STRUGGLING TO DEVELOP EARLY
THIS EVENING ALONG A STATIONARY SURFACE BOUNDARY WHICH EXTENDS FROM
GENOA TO NEAR GRAND ISLAND TO NORTH OF LEXINGTON.

WHILE BUDDING STORMS HAVE BEEN QUASHED IN MID DEVELOPMENT BY WARM
TEMPERATURES IN THE MID TO UPPER ATMOSPHERE THUS FAR...IT IS POSSIBLE
THAT A THUNDERSTORM OR TWO COULD GET GOING BEFORE SUNSET NEAR THIS
BOUNDARY. ANY STORM THAT DOES DEVELOP WOULD LIKELY BE CAPABLE OF
PRODUCING HEAVY DOWNPOURS AND SMALL HAIL.
