SOUTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA/NORTH CENTRAL KANSAS FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HASTINGS NE 203 PM CDT MON AUG 7 2000 MODELS IN FAIRLY GOOD AGREEMENT WITH THE OVERALL PATTERN AS ZONAL FLOW IN THE MID AND UPPER LEVELS UNDERGOES SOME AMPLIFICATION DURING THE PD AND WE END UP UNDER NW FLOW AGAIN. HOWEVER THEIR BIG DEFICIENCY IS HANDLING OF LOW LEVEL MOISTURE...EACH OF THE MODELS BEING WAY TOO DRY. THIS HAS SOME IMPACT WITH A GENERAL LACK OF QPF THROUGH THE FP. UPPER SHORTWAVE TROF WELL DEFINED IN MORNING UAA AND IN PROFILERS THIS AFTERNOON MOVING THROUGH WRN SDAK. THIS WAVE WILL MARCH EWD WITH BEST RAIN CHANCES TO OUR NORTH. HOWEVER MID LEVEL LAPSE RATES WILL BE QUITE STEEP EVEN ACRS THE NERN COUNTIES AND THINK THAT SOME EXTENSION OF TSRA DOWN THE TROUGH IS POSSIBLE. TO THE SOUTH SHEAR AXIS FROM OLD SW TX UPPER LOW HANGING IN FROM SW TX TO NC KS. REMNANTS OF OLD CONVECTION FROM WRN KS LAST STILL DEPOSITING SOME SPRINKLES AND WIDESPREAD ACCAS ACRS SRN ZONES. THINK EFFECTS WILL LINGER TONIGHT AND WILL THUS KEEP SMALL POPS GOING THERE.
