SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AUSTIN/SAN ANTONIO TX 200 PM CDT SAT SEP 02 2000 A FEW OF THE CUMULI WHICH ARE FORMING OVER THE EASTERN HALF OF THE AREA COULD DEVELOP INTO ISOLATED TO SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS WITH THE ADDITIONAL AFTERNOON HEATING. ANY THUNDERSTORMS WHICH DO DEVELOP SHOULD DISSIPATE AROUND SUNSET. THE ETA AND AVN SHOW CONTINUED VERY HOT MAINLY DRY CONDITIONS OVER THE FORECAST AREA THROUGH MONDAY AT LEAST. SO WILL FORECAST GENERAL PERSISTENCE IN THE 1-2 DAY FORECAST. WINDS SHOULD NOT BE STRONG ENOUGH TO CONTINUE THE RED FLAG WARNING. IN THE 3-5 DAY FORECAST...THE MAJOR TROF OVER THE NORTHWEST U.S. WORKS INLAND THROUGH THE MIDDLE PART OF THE WEEK AND A MAJOR SHIFT IN THE GENERAL UPPER AIR PATTERN NOW SEEMS TO BE COMING INTO PLAY. AN UPPER-LEVEL JET DEVELOPS INTO THE SOUTHWEST U.S. IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE STRONG TROF OVER THE NORTHERN PLAINS A BETTER LIFTING PATTERN DEVELOPS...PARTICULARLY BY THE FRI AND SAT PERIOD. THE ENSEMBLE PRECIP CHARTS ALSO SHOW INCREASED RAIN CHANCES AS THE END OF THE WEEK APPROACHES.
