THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN THE QUAD CITIES HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  JOHNSON COUNTY IN EAST CENTRAL IOWA
  MUSCATINE COUNTY IN EAST CENTRAL IOWA
  MERCER COUNTY IN NORTHWEST ILLINOIS
  WASHINGTON COUNTY IN SOUTHEAST IOWA
  LOUISA COUNTY IN SOUTHEAST IOWA

* UNTIL 715 AM CDT

* AS OF 420 AM CDT...DOPPLER WEATHER RADAR INDICATED SLOW MOVING
  STRONG THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING HEAVY RAINFALL OVER MUCH OF THE
  WARNED AREA.  THE THUNDERSTORMS WERE MOVING TO THE EAST...AND THE
  HEAVY RAIN IS ALREADY ENDING IN SOME PORTIONS OF THE AREA.  LOCALIZED
  FLASH FLOODING HAS BEEN REPORTED IN COLUMBUS JUNCTION AND WAPELLO IN
  LOUISA COUNTY...AS WELL AS IN PORTIONS OF JOHNSON COUNTY.

* SLOW MOVING THUNDERSTORMS ARE PRODUCING EXCESSIVE RAINFALL OVER
  PORTIONS OF THE WARNED AREA...LEADING TO THE LIKELIHOOD OF FLASH
  FLOODING.  IN SOME AREAS THE THUNDERSTORMS ARE ALREADY ENDING...BUT
  FLASH FLOODING MAY STILL BE OCCURRING IN THOSE AREAS.

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM THIS STORM WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF SMALL
CREEKS AND STREAMS...HIGHWAYS AND UNDERPASSES. ADDITIONALLY...COUNTRY
ROADS AND FARMLANDS ALONG THE BANKS OF CREEKS AND STREAMS AND OTHER
LOW LYING AREAS ARE SUBJECT TO FLASH FLOODING.

BE EXTRA CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN THE DANGERS OF FLASH FLOODING ARE NOT AS
APPARENT.
