TEXAS/OKLAHOMA PANHANDLES FORECAST DISCUSSION...UPDATED NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AMARILLO TX 303 PM CDT TUE JUN 27 2000 UPDATED TO POST A FLASH FLOOD WATCH ONLY FOR PARTS OF THE NORTHERN TEXAS PANHANDLE AND NOT THE WESTERN AND CENTRAL OKLAHOMA PANHANDLE HAND ANALYSIS SHOWED A MESOLOW ACROSS SOUTHEASTERN COLORADO WITH A THERMAL RIDGE ACROSS EASTERN NEW MEXICO. SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS HAD DEVELOPED THIS AFTERNOON IN THE NOSE OF THE THERMAL RIDGE. CONVECTION SHOULD CONTINUE TO DEVELOP AHEAD OF A SHORTWAVE DRIFTING ACROSS CENTRAL NEW MEXICO. THIS ACTIVITY SHOULD PUSH ACROSS AREAS BETWEEN LUBBOCK AND AMARILLO THIS EVENING SO WILL GO WITH THE HIGHEST POPS IN THE SOUTHERN ZONES WITH A MENTION OF LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL. AS A RESULT...WILL PUT A FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR PARTS OF THE NORTHERN TEXAS PANHANDLE.
