THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN AMARILLO HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  SOUTHEASTERN SHERMAN COUNTY IN THE TEXAS PANHANDLE

* UNTIL 830 AM CDT

* AT 525 AM CDT...DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A CLUSTER OF       
  THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING VERY HEAVY RAINFALL OVER SOUTHEAST 
  SHERMAN COUNTY. RADAR RAINFALL ESTIMATES INDICATE AS MUCH AS 4     
  INCHES OF RAIN HAS ALREADY FALLEN ACROSS THIS AREA. ADDITIONAL
  RAINFALL WILL CONTINUE HEAVY RUNOFF AND RESULT IN FLOODED          
  ROADWAYS. 

* SOME LOCATIONS AFFECTED INCLUDE...
  MAINLY RURAL AREAS OF SOUTHEAST SHERMAN COUNTY. 

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF WILL INUNDATE ROADS AND FARM AND RANCH LAND. DO NOT 
DRIVE ACROSS FLOODED ROADWAYS! NEVER ATTEMPT TO CROSS FLOWING WATER 
IN A CAR OR ON FOOT.

THUNDERSTORMS WITH HEAVY RAINFALL CURRENTLY OVER CENTRAL AND
NORTHWEST ZONES EARLY THIS MORNING. BELIEVE CONVECTION IS DEVELOPING
ALONG AN OUTFLOW BOUNDARY STRETCHED WEST TO EAST OVER NORTHERN ZONES
RATHER THAN THE WEAK COOL FRONT WHICH CONVECTION INITIATED ALONG
YESTERDAY. LATEST SFC ANLYS SUGGESTS FRONT HAS RETREATED NORTHWARD
BETWEEN LIMON AND LAMAR COLORADO. MEANWHILE VAD WINDS AT AMARILLO
AND AREA PROFILERS REVEAL A LOW LEVEL JET IN THE 25 TO 35 KT RANGE
OVER THE TEXAS PANHANDLE AND SOUTHERN HIGH PLAINS. FURTHER...WEAKNESS
IN SURFACE PRESSURE FIELD INDICATE LEE CYCLOGENESIS CENTERED NEAR
TUCUMCARI NEW MEXICO. THIS FEATURE HAS HELPED LOW LEVEL WINDS TO BACK
OVER MOST OF THE FORECAST AREA. EXPECT MORNING SHOWERS AND STORMS TO
DRIFT OVER NORTHEAST ZONES THROUGH MID MORNING. LOW CLOUDS ARE ALSO A
FIRST PERIOD CONCERN.

WILL HOLD ON TO RAIN CHANCES FOR THE REST OF THE PERIODS SINCE
MOISTURE LEVELS WILL REMAIN AT SEASONAL LEVELS. MOIST/WARM CORE
RIDGE OVER SOUTHEASTERN U.S. IS EXPECTED TO BUILD WESTWARD OVER
LOWER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY ON MONDAY. THIS SHOULD BRING AN INCREASE
IN MID/HIGH LEVEL MOISTURE.
