NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TUCSON AZ
230 PM MST TUE JUL 13 1999

SYNOPSIS...HIGH PRESSURE ALOFT WILL MOVE TO THE SOUTHERN PLAINS BY
THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK. A MOIST EASTERLY FLOW WILL CONTINUE THIS
WEEK GENERATING SCATTERED MAINLY AFTERNOON AND EVENING
THUNDERSTORMS.

DISCUSSION...SLOW START FOR STORMS IN FLASH FLOOD WATCH AREA BUT
BEGINNING TO BUILD NEAR SELLS NOW AND ALONG MEXICAN BORDER BY
NOGALES. OTHER STORMS HAVE BUILT UNDER COLD AIR POOL THAT WEDGED
INTO FAR EASTERN PART OF STATE. STILL DONT SEE MUCH POTENTIAL FOR
HEAVY RAIN IN GRAHAM OR GREENLEE COUNTIES AND STORMS SO FAR HAVE
PROVED THIS POINT. NOW THE ONLY QUESTION IS HOW WELL ORGANIZED
STORMS GET IN WATCH AREA. WITH TEMPS IN MID 90S TO NEAR 100 MOST
AREAS THERE IS PLENTY OF CAPE TO GO AROUND.

FIGURING A GOOD DAY WOULD FORECAST DOWN DAY TOMORROW BUT MODELS
THROW IN DYNAMICS IN THE MIX AS TROF OUT BY VEGAS IS PUSHED EAST IN
ADVANCE OF MAJOR TROF DEVELOPING OVER WESTERN STATES. BELIEVE THERE
WILL BE ENOUGH MOISTURE FLUX CONVERGENCE TO KEEP SOME STORMS GOING
OVERNIGHT IN WESTERN ZONES THEN DYNAMICS SHIFT  A LITTLE FARTHER
EAST ON WEDNESDAY. SO WILL KEEP MIDDLE OF THE ROAD MONSOON FORECAST.
MRF WANTS TO DRY US OUT FOR THE WEEKEND BUT A LITTLE SUSPICIOUS AND
WILL HOLD ON TO SCATTERED POPS THROUGH THE EXTENDED. STILL IT WILL
BE A DIFFERENT TYPE OF MONSOON PATTERN WE ARE IN FOR NEXT WEEK.
