FLASH FLOOD WARNING
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TULSA OK
315 AM CDT SUN SEP 12 1999

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TULSA HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR
  OSAGE COUNTY IN NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA

* UNTIL 600 AM CDT

* AT 307 AM CDT RADAR INDICATED SLOW MOVING THUNDERSTORMS WITH     
VERY HEAVY RAIN ACROSS OSAGE COUNTY. THE THUNDERSTORMS WITH THE 
HEAVIEST RAINS WERE LOCATED IN A 15 MILE WIDE AREA EXTENDING FROM
BURBANK TO PAWHUSKA. RADAR RAINFALL ESTIMATES INDICATE THAT 2 TO 3 
INCHES OF RAIN HAS ALREADY FALLEN ACROSS PARTS OF OSAGE COUNTY. AN 
ADDITIONAL 1 TO 2 INCHES OF RAIN MAY FALL IN THE WARNED AREA BEFORE 
THE RAINS TAPER OFF AFTER 5 AM.

SOME AREAS LIKELY TO BE AFFECTED BY FLASH FLOODING INCLUDE BURBANK...
PAWHUSKA...AND HIGHWAY 60 BETWEEN BURBANK AND PAWHUSKA. HIGHWAYS 11 
AND 99 BETWEEN PAWHUSKA AND BARNSDALL MAY BECOME COVERED WITH WATER 
EARLY THIS MORNING AND MAKE FOR DANGEROUS TRAVEL. 
 
BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE 
DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS. IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT
QUICKLY. MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT STAY
IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER MAY BE TOO DEEP TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY.
VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED QUICKLY. MOVE TO
HIGHER GROUND.

940 PM CDT SAT SEP 11 1999

WARM ADVECTION HAS SET OFF A FEW SHOWERS OVER SOUTHEAST OKLAHOMA AND
WEST CENTRAL ARKANSAS THIS EVENING.  SUPPOSE THEY COULD POP UP
ALMOST ANYWHERE.  THUS...WILL KEEP CHANCE POPS AND DROP MENTION OF
TIMING.  LOOKED LIKE CLOUDS MIGHT BREAK UP EARLIER THIS EVENING BUT
MORE ARE DEVELOPING TO THE SOUTHWEST SO WILL KEEP MOSTLY CLOUDY FOR
ALL BUT THE FAR SOUTH. WINDS ARE LIGHT AND WILL REFLECT THAT.  LOW
TEMPS LOOK GOOD FOR THE MOST PART WITH THE CLOUDS AND DEW POINTS IN
THE MID TO UPPER 60S.
