THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RUSKIN HAS ISSUED A

* FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  SOUTHERN LEE COUNTY IN SOUTHWESTERN FLORIDA

* UNTIL 500 AM EDT

* AT 1100 PM...EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OFFICALS REPORTED AREAS OF
FLOODING DUE TO EXCESSIVE RAINFALL OVER PORTIONS OF SOUTHERN LEE
COUNTY. DOPPLER RADAR ESTIMATED THAT AT LEAST 2 TO 4 INCHES OF RAIN
HAS FALLEN OVER EXTREME SOUTHERN LEE COUNTY SINCE 10 AM MONDAY
MORNING.

AT 1115 PM...DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED THAT THE HEAVIEST RAINFALL
REMAINED ABOUT 25 MILES SOUTHWEST OF SOUTHERN LEE COUNTY...OVER THE
SOUTHEASTERN GULF OF MEXICO. AS HARVEY CONTINUES TO MOVE EAST
TONIGHT...THE AREA OF HEAVIER RAINFALL OFFSHORE IS EXPECTED TO MOVE
ONSHORE OVER SOUTHWEST FLORIDA. AN ADDITIONAL 2 TO 4 INCHES OF
RAIN WILL BE POSSIBLE OVER SOUTHERN LEE COUNTY THROUGH TONIGHT AND
THE EARLY MORNING HOURS.

AREAS THAT HAVE REPORTED PROBLEMS WITH FLOODING WERE: SAN CARLOS
PARK...BONITA SPRINGS...AND IONA. TWO HOMES HAVE ALREADY BEEN
FLOODED IN COUNTRY OAKS...JUST SOUTH OF SAN CARLOS PARK. IN
ADDITION...9 STREETS IN BONITA SPRINGS HAVE BEEN CLOSED ALONG THE
IMPERIAL RIVER...WHICH HAS PROMPTED THE OPENING OF ONE SHELTER.

RESIDENTS WITHIN THE WARNED AREA...ESPECIALLY THOSE ALONG OR NEAR
STREAMS OR RIVERS...SHOULD CONTINUE TO BE ON THE ALERT FOR RISING
WATER... AND BE PREPARED TO MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND. DO NOT
ATTEMPT TO WALK OR DRIVE THROUGH WATER WHICH IS FLOWING.

HARVEY IS STILL MOVING ONSHORE.  I DO NOT PLAN TO UPDATE THE
FORECAST AT THIS TIME.  THE BIG QUESTION RIGHT NOW IS WHEN AND WHERE
TO GO WITH A WIND WARNING FOR INTERIOR COUNTIES.  ACCORDING TO
CURRENT TRACK...TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS WILL NOT BEGIN AFFECTING
INLAND COUNTIES UNTIL 2ND PERIOD. SO I WILL WAIT AND SEE...MAKE THE
CHANGES ON THE 5AM ZONES.
