WATAUGA COUNTY IN NORTHWESTERN NORTH CAROLINA. * UNTIL 820 AM EST. * AT 220 AM EST... NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED MODERATE TO HEAVY PATCHES OF RAIN LIFTING NORTH AT 15 MPH ACROSS WATAUGA COUNTY. MANY LOCATIONS ACROSS THE AREA HAVE ALREADY RECEIVED 1 TO 3 INCHES OF RAIN ON THURSDAY. ADDITIONAL RAINS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES WILL CAUSE CREEK AND STREAMS TO RISE OUT OF THEIR BANKS. AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BLACKSBURG VA 900 PM EST THU NOV 25 1999 FRONTAL ZONE IS GOING TO HAVE TO SHIFT FOR ANY HEAVY RAIN TO START FALLING OVER OUR CWA. THE EASTERLY UPSLOPE FLOW IS TOO WEAK AT TIME TO ENHANCE ANY PRECIP ON EAST FACING SLOPES. THE FRONAL SHIFT SHOULD START HAPPENING LATE TONIGHT WITH Q-CONVERGENCE GRAD SHIFTING AS WELL. HEAVY RAIN AT THIS TIME IS FALLING OVER THIS GRAD WHICH WILL BE OVER THE AREA BY 18Z TOMORROW. AS FOR TONIGHT HOWEVER...WILL ADJUST HEAVY AT TIMES WORDING EAST OF APPALACHIAN CHAIN DOWN TO JUST RAIN.
