EL PASO COUNTY IN EAST CENTRAL COLORADO * UNTIL 1020 PM MDT * AT 915 PM MDT...RADAR SHOWED A SEVERE STORM OVER NORTH CENTRAL COLORADO SPRINGS...6 MILES NORTH OF THE DOWNTOWN AREA... MOVING EAST AT 10 MPH. SOME LOCATIONS AFFECTED WILL BE THE CITY OF COLORADO SPRINGS THROUGH 930 PM...AND FALCON AROUND 920 PM. SOUTH CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST COLORADO AREA FORECAST8 DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PUEBLO COLORADO 200 PM MDT WED JUN 23 1999 FORECAST CHALLENGE FOR THE SHORT TERM IS THE POTENTIAL FOR THUNDERSTORMS IN THE CWFA THIS EVENING. 500MB RIDGE CENTERED OVER SOUTHWEST US WITH LIGHT WESTERLY FLOW AT MOST LEVELS JUST ABOVE THE SURFACE. PROFILER SHOWS EASTERLY FLOW IN FIRST 2 GATES AND MODELED SOUNDINGS SUGGEST THAT WILL LINGER INTO THE EVENING. WEAK MID LEVEL SHORTWAVE WILL EXIT THE REGION BY 00Z BUT THE QUESTION REMAINS AS TO WHETHER THERE IS ENOUGH STRENGTH IN THE LOW LEVEL FLOW TO PRODUCE -TSRA. SHORT WAVE MOVES OUT OF CWFA TONIGHT LEAVING THURSDAY WITH LIGHT WINDS ALOFT AND A SIMILAR LOW LEVEL PATTERN AND SIMILAR TSTM COVERAGE.
