BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION/IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED
FLOOD WARNING
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEW YORK NY
330 AM EST WED FEB 3 1999

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NEW YORK HAS EXTENDED THE FLOOD 
WARNING FOR SMALL STREAMS IN NEW HAVEN COUNTY IN SOUTH CENTRAL 
CONNECTICUT UNTIL 900 AM EST.

MUCH OF THE FLOODING AROUND THE COUNTY HAS ABATED. HOWEVER THE 
QUINNIPIAC RIVER STILL REMAINS OUT OF ITS BANKS IN SOME LOCATIONS. 
AT 330 AM EST THE GAGE AT WALLINGFORD INDICATED THAT THE RIVER WAS 
STILL OVER HALF A FOOT ABOVE FLOOD STAGE. THE RIVER IS RECEDING AND 
WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO THROUGH THE MORNING HOURS. IT IS FORECAST TO 
BE WITHIN ITS BANKS BY MID MORNING.

A FLOOD WARNING MEANS FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR ALREADY OCCURRING. BE 
ESPECIALLY CAREFUL AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE 
DANGERS OF FLOODS. DO NOT DRIVE YOUR AUTOMOBILE THROUGH FLOODED 
ROADWAYS.
