THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NEWPORT HAS ISSUED A

* FLOOD WARNING IN EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA FOR...MARTIN COUNTY

* UNTIL 530 PM EDT

* AT 322 PM EDT...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED 6 TO 10 
INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN SINCE THIS MORNING ACROSS PARTS OF MARTIN 
COUNTY. ADDITIONAL SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL DROP ANOTHER 1 TO 
2 INCHES OF RAIN THROUGH 5 PM. 

* THE HEAVIEST RAIN HAS OCCURRED OVER THE NORTHERN PART OF THE 
COUNTY NEAR HAMILTON...AND OVER THE EASTERN PART OF THE COUNTY NEAR 
HIGHWAY 17. 

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF WILL CAUSE FLOODING OF SMALL CREEKS... 
STREAMS...AND LOW LYING AREAS.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE AB^ANDONED QUICKLY.
MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.

PLEASE REPORT FLOODING TO THE NEAREST LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY FOR
RELAY TO THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE.

AREAS ALONG COAST AND SE ZNS MAY SEE BOUTS OF SUN AND THIS WILL ONLY
AID IN CONVECTIVE ONSET. WILL KEEP 60 POPS INLAND TO 40 OTR BANKS.
