THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MIAMI HAS ISSUED A

* FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  PALM BEACH COUNTY IN SOUTHEASTERN FLORIDA
  BROWARD COUNTY IN SOUTHEASTERN FLORIDA

* UNTIL 200 AM EDT

 THE FLOOD WARNING FOR EASTERN COLLIER COUNTY HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED
 AT 1000 PM...

* HEAVY RAINFALL CONTINUES TO SPREAD NORTHWARD ACROSS PALM BEACH
  COUNTY AS HURRICANE IRENE MOVES NORTH ACROSS SOUTHEAST FLORIDA.
  AT 1000 PM EDT...DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED THAT THE MAIN RAINBAND
  ASSOCIATED WITH HURRICANE IRENE WAS MOVING NORTH ACROSS PALM BEACH
  COUNTY. VERY HEAVY RAINFALL WAS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS BAND WITH
  RAINFALL RATES OF UP TO TWO INCHES PER HOUR. ADDITIONAL RAINFALL
  AMOUNTS OF UP TO 4 INCHES ARE EXPECTED ACROSS THIS AREA THROUGH
  200 AM. THIS WILL AGGRAVATE THE FLOODING SITUATION...ESPECIALLY
  ACROSS METROPOLITAN AREAS OF PALM BEACH COUNTY.

  ALTHOUGH RAINFALL HAS DIMINISHED SIGNIFICANTLY ACROSS BROWARD
  COUNTY...WATER IS STILL STANDING ON ROADS...STREETS AND LOW LYING
  AREAS. THESE CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO CONTINUED THROUGH 200 AM.
  RESIDENTS AND MOTORISTS ACROSS BROWARD COUNTY...ESPECIALLY THE
  METROPOLITAN AREAS SHOULD CONTINUE TO EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION
  UNTIL THE WATERS HAVE RECEDED.

A FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS IMMINENT.
MOST FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS
BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. NEVER
TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL ONE...ON FOOT. TO
ESCAPE RISING WATER MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODING. DO NOT DRIVE INTO AREAS OF PONDING WATER OF
UNKNOWN DEPTH. IF FLOODING IS OBSERVED...ACT QUICKLY.
