AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MIDLAND TX 214 PM CDT (114 PM MDT) WED MAY 26 1999 STRATUS DECK HAS FORMED OVER MUCH OF THE CWA...HOWEVER IS BEGINNING TO BURN OFF FROM THE WEST. THIS DECK OF LOW CLOUDS WILL DELAY THE DEVELOPMENT OF THUNDERSTORMS UNTIL THE LATE AFTERNOON/EARLY EVENING HOURS. CURRENTLY A SLOW MOVING COLD FRONT IS PUSHING ITS WAY SOUTH ACROSS THE SOUTHERN SOUTH PLAINS/NORTHERN PERMIAN BASIN. LOOKING AT PRESSURE RISES BEHIND THE FRONT INDICATE THAT IT WILL CONTINUE A SLOW PUSH TO THE SOUTH FOR THE NEXT FEW HOURS. MEANWHILE AN UPPER LEVEL SYSTEM LOCATED OVER NRN NM IS PROGD TO EJECT A SUBSTANTIAL PIECE OF ENERGY ACROSS WEST TEXAS BETWEEN OOZ AND 06Z TONIGHT. GIVEN THE ALREADY UNSTABLE CONDITIONS ACROSS THE AREA...THIS IN COMBINATION WITH A SURFACE BOUNDARY SHOULD SET THE STAGE FOR A RATHER INTERESTING NIGHT ACROSS THE EASTERN CWA.
