TXZ021>044-102000- AREA THUNDERSTORM OUTLOOK NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LUBBOCK TX 1145 AM CDT FRI JUN 11 1999 THERE IS SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE SOUTH PLAINS ...EXTREME SOUTHERN PANHANDLE AND LOW ROLLING PLAINS THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. A SOUTHEASTERLY FLOW OF ABUNDANT MOISTURE CONTINUED INTO NORTHWEST TEXAS LATE THIS MORNING AND THE ATMOSPHERE WAS ALREADY BECOMING VERY UNSTABLE. AT 1130 AM...THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUED OVER THE EASTERN PANHANDLE TO THE NORTH OF OUTFLOW BOUNDARY WHICH WAS PUSHING SOUTH THROUGH THE EXTREME SOUTHERN PANHANDLE. THIS BOUNDARY IS EXPECTED TO MOVE A LITTLE FARTHER SOUTH BEFORE STALLING OVER THE SOUTH PLAINS AND LOW ROLLING PLAINS THIS AFTERNOON. IT WILL LIKELY PROVIDE A FOCUS FOR THUNDERSTORM INITIATION THIS AFTERNOON. ELSEWHERE...THE DRYLINE WAS LOCATED NEAR THE MOUNTAINS OF NEW MEXICO THIS MORNING. UNLIKE YESTERDAY...IT IS NOT EXPECTED TO MOVE AS FAR EAST DURING THE DAY AND SHOULD REMAIN OVER EASTERN NEW MEXICO THIS AFTERNOON. AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE APPROACHING THE AREA FROM THE WEST MAY HELP INITIATE THUNDERSTORMS NEAR THE DRYLINE THIS AFTERNOON. STORMS WHICH FORM ALONG THE DRYLINE WILL MOVE EAST INTO NORTHWEST TEXAS DURING THE LATE AFTERNOON AND EVENING. DUE TO THE INSTABILITY AND WINDS STRUCTURE ALOFT...THUNDERSTORM WHICH FORM WILL HAVE THE POTENTIAL OF BECOMING SEVERE PRODUCING DAMAGING WINDS AND LARGE HAIL. ACTIVATION OF SPOTTER GROUPS. AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PERSONNEL MAY BECOME NECESSARY.
