POLK COUNTY IN WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA * UNTIL 1125 AM EDT * AT 825 AM... NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR INDICATED NEARLY STATIONARY THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAIN NEAR MILL SPRING AND NEAR TRYON. LITTLE MOVEMENT IS ANTICIPATED THROUGH MID MORNING...ALTHOUGH A WEAKENING TREND IS LIKELY. * RAINFALL AMOUNTS VERY CLOSE TO THE VALUES NEEDED TO CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF STREAMS...CREEKS AND RIVERS HAVE BEEN OBSERVED FROM MILL SPRING NORTHWARD TO THE RUTHERFORD COUNTY LINE. STANDING WATER IN THE MILL SPRING AREA AND FLOODING OF HIGHWAY 9 IS LIKELY THROUGH MID MORNING. FLOODING COULD ALSO BE OBSERVED IN THE TRYON AND COLUMBUS AREAS AS WATER FLOWS DOWN INTO THOSE AREAS LATER THIS MORNING.
