SEVERE WEATHER OUTLOOK FOR NORTH TEXAS
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORT WORTH TX
1230 PM CDT MON MAY 17 1999

THERE CONTINUES TO BE A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS FOR THE
REST OF THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT ACROSS ALL OF NORTH TEXAS. THIS
INCLUDES THE DALLAS/FORT WORTH METROPLEX...WACO...TEMPLE...KILLEEN...
SHERMAN...DENISON...AND PARIS.

SCATTERED STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOPED DURING THE LATE
MORNING HOURS FROM THE SHERMAN AREA THROUGH THE WESTERN SIDE OF THE
METROPLEX TO 15 MILES NORTH OF GRANBURY. THIS ACTIVITY WILL CONTINUE
TO MOVE EAST NORTHEAST THIS AFTERNOON.

A COLD FRONT THAT EXTENDED FROM JUST WEST OF WICHITA FALLS TO 30
MILES NORTH OF ABILENE AT MIDDAY WILL PUSH SOUTHEASTWARD TO NEAR A
BONHAM TO LAMPASAS LINE AROUND SUNSET. SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS ARE
EXPECTED TO DEVELOP THIS AFTERNOON ALONG THIS FRONT. THIS ACTIVITY
WILL FORM INTO A LINE LATE THIS AFTERNOON. THE FRONT WILL THEN MOVE
SOUTHEAST THROUGH THE NIGHTTIME HOURS.

THE MOIST AND VERY UNSTABLE AIR AHEAD OF THE FRONT IS A CONDUCIVE
ENVIRONMENT FOR THUNDERSTORMS THAT COULD PRODUCE LARGE HAIL AND
DAMAGING DOWNBURST WINDS. A FEW OF THE STORMS WILL BECOME SUPERCELLS
STORMS THAT COULD PRODUCE A TORNADO. HEAVY RAIN WILL ALSO PRODUCE A
THREAT OF FLOODING.

STORM SPOTTERS AND EMERGENCY MANAGERS SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR
ACTIVATION FOR THE REST OF THE AFTERNOON THROUGH THE EVENING HOURS.

STAY TUNED TO LOCAL RADIO AND TV STATIONS...NOAA WEATHER RADIO...OR
YOUR LOCAL CABLE PROVIDER FOR THE LATEST WEATHER DEVELOPMENTS THIS
AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT.
