THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN FORT WORTH HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  DENTON COUNTY IN TEXAS
  JOHNSON COUNTY IN TEXAS
  TARRANT COUNTY IN TEXAS

* UNTIL 1030 AM CST

* AT 735 AM CST...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED VERY HEAVY
  RAIN IN A BAND FROM NEAR DENTON TO FORT WORTH TO CLEBURNE. INDIVIDUAL
  ELEMENTS WERE MOVING NORTHEAST AT 30 MPH WHILE THE AREA WAS MOVING
  EAST AT 20 MPH.

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM THIS STORM WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF SMALL
CREEKS AND STREAMS...URBAN AREAS...HIGHWAYS...STREETS AND UNDERPASSES
AS WELL AS OTHER DRAINAGE AREAS AND LOW LYING SPOTS.

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS
IMMINENT. MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT

THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS TODAY FOR SOUTHERN
SECTIONS OF NORTH TEXAS. THE RISK AREA IS ALONG AN SOUTH OF A LINE
FROM COMANCHE TO HILLSBORO TO ATHENS. THE MAIN THREAT WILL BE FROM
LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS.

WARM AND VERY MOIST AIR CONTINUES TO PUSH INTO SOUTHERN SECTIONS OF
NORTH TEXAS THIS MORNING. AT THE SAME TIME...AN APPROACHING UPPER
LEVEL LOW AND ITS ASSOCIATED COLD FRONT WILL STRENGTHEN AND ENHANCE
VERTICAL MOTIONS TODAY ACROSS THE RISK AREA. INSTABILITY IN THE
ATMOSPHERE WILL BE SOMEWHAT LIMITED...BUT VERTICAL WIND SHEARS
MAY SUPPORT THUNDERSTORMS THAT PRODUCE LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING
WINDS.

SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS COULD OCCUR AT ANY TIME TODAY...BUT IT APPEARS
THE MAIN THREAT SHOULD BE MAINLY THIS AFTERNOON. VERY HEAVY RAINS
AND FLASH FLOODING WILL BE AN EVEN GREATER THREAT TODAY AND A FLASH
FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR MOST OF NORTH TEXAS.

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE METEOROLOGISTS WILL CLOSELY MONITOR THE
POTENTIAL FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS TODAY AND AN UPDATED OUTLOOK
WILL BE ISSUED AROUND NOON.
