000 TTAA00 KEWX 280858 FFWSAT TXC285-281200- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AUSTIN/SAN ANTONIO TX 356 AM CDT FRI MAY 28 1999 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN AUSTIN/SAN ANTONIO HAS ISSUED A * FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR THE FOLLOWING... LAVACA COUNTY IN TEXAS * UNTIL 700 AM CDT * AT 353 AM CDT...DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED VERY HEAVY RAINFALL OVER LAVACA COUNTY WITH THE STORMS SHOWING VERY LITTLE MOVEMENT. RAINFALL RATES WERE ESTIMATED AT 1 TO 3 INCHES AN HOUR. SO FAR THE HEAVIEST RAINS WERE CONCENTRATED BETWEEN SPEAKS AND SUBLIME. EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM THESE STORMS WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS...LOW WATER CROSSINGS AND UNDERPASSES. ADDITIONALLY...COUNTRY ROADS AND FARMLANDS ALONG THE BANKS OF CREEKS AND STREAMS AND OTHER LOW LYING AREAS ARE SUBJECT TO FLASH FLOODING. DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE T<OO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED QUICKLY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
