000 TTAA00 KCTP 191839 FFWCTP PAC081-200000- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING - ICE JAM FLOODING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE STATE COLLEGE PA 138 PM EST TUE JAN 19 1999 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN STATE COLLEGE HAS ISSUED A * FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR... LYCOMING COUNTY IN NORTH CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA. * UNTIL 700 PM EST. * LOCAL POLICE AND COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OFFICIALS REPORTED FLOODING OF MUNCY CREEK ON THE EASTERN SIDE OF HUGHESVILLE...IN SOUTHEASTERN LYCOMING COUNTY. THE FLOODING WAS BEING CAUSED BY WATER BACKING UP BEHIND A MILE-LONG ICE JAM THAT HAS FORMED NEAR HUGHESVILLE. THE PRIMARY IMPACT OF THE FLOODING SO FAR WAS TO BASEMENTS OF SEVERAL HOMES ALONG MUNCY CREEK IN THE BOROUGH OF HUGHESVILLE. HOWEVER...EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OFFICIALS ON THE SCENE NOTED THAT 20 ADDITIONAL HOMES POTENTIALLY COULD BE AFFECTED IF ADDITIONAL RISES OCCUR. DON'T DRIVE INTO AREAS WHERE WATER COVERS THE ROAD!
