...TROPICAL STORM BRET CONTINUES TO PRODUCE HEAVY RAINFALL AS
IT SLOWLY DRIFTS ACROSS SOUTH TEXAS...

AS TROPICAL STORM BRET MOVES ACROSS THE RIO GRANDE PLAINS THIS
AFTERNOON AND EVENING...RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF UP TO FOUR INCHES AN
HOUR ARE POSSIBLE. WITH THE WESTWARD MOVEMENT OF TROPICAL STORM
BRET EXPECTED TO SLOW DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS...AN ADDITIONAL 10 TO
15 INCHES OF RAINFALL IS POSSIBLE OVER THE RIO GRANDE PLAINS...
ESPECIALLY ACROSS WESTERN WEBB COUNTY IN AND UP RIVER FROM THE
CITY OF LAREDO.

EXPECT THE HEAVIEST RAINFALL TONIGHT...AS THE REMNANTS OF TROPICAL
STORM BRET MOVE JUST NORTH OF LAREDO INTO MEXICO. THIS IS A
POTENTIALLY VERY DANGEROUS...LIFE THREATENING...SITUATION. RESIDENTS
THROUGHOUT THE RIO GRANDE PLAINS...ESPECIALLY THOSE ALONG THE RIO
GRANDE NEAR LAREDO...SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR LIFE THREATENING FLASH
FLOODING AND RIVER FLOODING.

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH AND RIVER FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE
RIO GRANDE PLAINS TODAY.

REMEMBER...A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR
LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL AND FLOODING TO OCCUR. IT DOES NOT MEAN THAT
FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR OCCURRING.

RESIDENTS IN THE WATCH AREA SHOULD CONTINUE TO MONITOR WEATHER
CONDITIONS. IF FLOODING IS OBSERVED OR IF A FLASH FLOOD WARNING IS
ISSUED...MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND IMMEDIATELY. NEVER ATTEMPT TO DRIVE
