NORTHERN UNION COUNTY IN NORTHEASTERN OREGON * UNTIL 600 PM PDT * AT 357... NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A THUNDERSTORM WITH VERY HEAVY RAIN NORTH OF ELGIN IN THE VICINITY OF PALMER JUNCTION. * RADAR ESTIMATED RAINFALL RATES WERE 1 TO 1.5 INCHES IN ONE HOUR. A THUNDERSTORM CAN CAUSE FLASH FLOODING MANY MILES FROM WHERE THE STORM IS OCCURING. A PAIR OF WEAK SHORT WAVES DROPPING THROUGH THE FA AREA THIS PM. THE FIRST IS ALONG THE CASCADES WITH THE SECOND ALONG THE IDAHO BORDER. SOME MINOR CONVECTION FIRING OFF ALONG THESE AREAS AT THE TIME...HOWEVER EXPECTING INCREASED CONVECTIVE ACTIVITY THIS EVENING AS ADDITIONAL MID LEVEL MOISTURE GETS PULLED INTO THE REGION. WILL CONTINUE FFA FOR ORZ018 AS 88-D AND SPOTTERS REPORTING SOME BRIEF HEAVY ACCUMULATIONS OVER THE BLUES AND ALONG THE EAST SLOPES BUT LITTLE IN THE WAY OF HAIL.
