THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NEW YORK HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  ORANGE COUNTY IN SOUTHEASTERN NEW YORK
  ROCKLAND COUNTY IN SOUTHEASTERN NEW YORK
  
* UNTIL 800 AM EDT

* AT 930 PM EDT... ANOTHER BAND OF MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN
HAS MOVED ACROSS WESTERN CONNECTICUT AND INTO THE LOWER
HUDSON RIVER VALLEY. RAINFALL OF 1/2 TO 3/4 OF AN INCH
WILL FALL OVER ROCKLAND AND ORANGE COUNTIES DURING THE
NEXT SEVERAL HOURS.

RIVERS AND STREAMS ARE RUNNING HIGH IN THE WARNING AREA. THE
GROUND IS SATURATED AND CANNOT HOLD ANYMORE WATER. ANY RAIN
THAT DOES FALL WILL RUNOFF DIRECTLY INTO THE STREAMS CAUSING
THEM TO RISE AGAIN. EXPECT SOME STREAMS TO RISE OUT OF THEIR
BANKS CAUSING MINOR FLOODING.

AT 930 PM EDT... THE MAHWAH RIVER IN SUFFERN NY HAD CRESTED
ABOVE ITS 4 FOOT FLOOD STAGE AND WAS BEGINNING TO SLOWLY RECEDE.
HOWEVER ADDITIONAL RAINFALL DURING THE NEXT FEW HOURS WILL
PREVENT IT FROM RETURNING TO BELOW BANKFULL. EXPECT MINOR
FLOODING TO CONTINUE THROUGH TONIGHT.

* DON'T DRIVE INTO AREAS WHERE WATER COVERS THE ROAD! BE
ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS DIFFICULT TO SEE
FLOODED ROADWAYS.
