AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MIDLAND TX 159 PM CDT (1259 PM MDT) MON JUL 13 1998 TSRA DEVELOPMENT OVER THE MTNS IS A LITTLE LATER IN GETTING STARTED THIS AFTERNOON AS N/NE FLOW IS OVER MOST SECTIONS. THE SLOW MOVING SURFACE TROUGH HAS PUSHED TO THE RIO GRANDE VALLEY WITH BEST MOISTURE AND HIGHER THETA E AIR NEAR THE TROUGH IN THE BIG BEND AND DAVIS MOUNTAINS. NOSE OF 3H 50KT JET STREAK MOVING INTO SRN SECTIONS FROM NM AROUND 00Z SHUD HELP WITH LIFT THROUGH THE LAYER NEAR ENTRANCE REGION. WINDS ALOFT HAVE WEAKENED OVERNIGHT AND THIS WILL ALLOW FOR SLOWER MOVEMENT OF STORMS THAT DEVELOP. AFTER COORD W/LBB WL ADD FIRST PERIOD LOCALLY HEAVY RAINS POSSIBLE IN THE BIG BEND/DAVIS MOUNTAINS. ELSEWHERE NORTH OF PECOS WL ADD MINIMAL POPS FOR ACTIVITY ASSOCIATED WITH MOVEMENT AWAY FROM THE NM AND GUADALUPE MOUNTAINS AND SWD MOVING BOUNDARIES FROM PREVIOUS CONVECTION.
