KYZ023>043-045>049-053>057-061>067-070>078-081-082-INZ076>079-084- 090>092-142330- SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LOUISVILLE KY 523 AM EDT SUN JUN 14 1998 THE STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS INDICATED THAT A MODERATE RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS EXISTS ACROSS THE SOUTHWESTERN TWO THIRDS OF CENTRAL KENTUCKY AND SOUTH-CENTRAL INDIANA THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT. SOME CITIES IN THE THE MODERATE RISK AREA ARE JASPER...LOUISVILLE...ELIZABETHTOWN...LEBANON...AND BOWLING GREEN. A SLIGHT RISK EXISTS OVER THE REMAINDER OF THE AREA. A WARM FRONT OVER MISSOURI AND TENNESSEE WILL MOVE NORTHEAST INTO KENTUCKY TODAY. THE ATMOSPHERE WILL ALSO BECOME INCREASINGLY UNSTABLE DURING THE DAY. THUNDERSTORMS WILL DEVELOP ALONG THE WARM FRONT AS IT MOVES THROUGH KENTUCKY. THE EXPECTED INSTABILITY ALONG WITH STRONG WIND FIELDS IN THE ATMOSPHERE WILL BE FAVORABLE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS...ESPECIALLY IN THE MODERATE RISK AREA. DAMAGING WINDS AND HAIL ARE LIKELY WITH THESE STORMS...AND A FEW TORNADOES ALSO ARE POSSIBLE WITH THE STRONGEST CELLS. THIS IS A PRELIMINARY OUTLOOK.
