AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE JACKSON KY 240 PM EDT WED APR 15 1998 MAIN QUESTION TO RESOLVE CONCERNS THUNDERSTORM CHANCES NEXT 48 HOURS. WHILE MODELS IN GENERAL AGREEMENT WITH OVERALL PATTERN THE ETA SEEMS TO BE HANDLING THE SITUATION BEST. STRONG TO SEVERE CONVECTION CURRENTLY MOVING ACROSS JACKSON CWA. ONCE THIS MOVES EAST OF AREA EARLY THIS EVENING THINGS WILL QUIET DOWN FOR A TIME. WITH STRONG DIFFLUENCE ALOFT...LOW LEVEL CONVERGENCE...AND INCREASING LOW LEVEL MOISTURE LOOK FOR CONVECTION TO INCREASE OVER MO SRN IL THIS EVENING. LIKE ETA IDEA OF KEEPING THIS CONVECTION MAINLY NW OF OUR CWA OVERNIGHT. AT THIS TIME WOULD PREFER MENTION OF EARLY EVENING THUNDERSTORMS TO HANDLE ONGOING CONVECTION...BUT THEN JUST KEEP CHANCE POPS FOR OVERNIGHT PERIOD.
