THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR
CLARKE COUNTY OF MISSISSIPPI UNTIL 1130 AM CST.

IT HAS BEEN REPORTED AND VERIFIED BY THE
CLARKE COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE THAT THE
ARCHUSA CREEK WATER PARK DAM LOCATED ON THE
CHICKASAWHAY RIVER IN CLARKE COUNTY FAILED EARLY TODAY.

THE NEAREST DOWNSTREAM CITY OR TOWN IS DESOTO
WHICH IS LOCATED 5 MILES FROM THE FAILED DAM.

THE EXPECTED TRAVEL TIME OF THE CREST FROM THE DAM DOWNSTREAM TO
DESOTO IS ABOUT 3 AND A HALF HOURS.

THE DAM FAILURE WAS ESTIMATED AT 600 AM. AT DESOTO THE RIVER WILL
CREST 3 TO 5 FEET ABOVE WHAT WAS PREVIOUSLY EXPECTED.

PERSONS LIVING IN OR NEAR THE FLOOD AREA SHOULD MOVE TO HIGH GROUND
IMMEDIATELY.
