BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED
FLOOD WARNING
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ALBANY NY
1056 AM EDT SUN JUN 14 1998

* FLOOD WARNING FOR
  ULSTER COUNTY IN SOUTHEAST NEW YORK.

* UNTIL 800 PM EDT THIS EVENING.

* OVER 5 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN IN PARTS OF ULSTER COUNTY IN THE
  PAST 2 DAYS.  THE STEADY RAIN WILL GRADUALLY TAPER OFF THIS
  AFTERNOON BUT AN ADDITIONAL 1/2 TO 1 INCH OF RAIN MAY FALL OVER
  THE CATSKILLS. RAINFALL IN EASTERN ULSTER COUNTY WILL BE LIGHTER.
  ALSO WIDELY SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS MAY DEVELOP DURING
  THE AFTERNOON.  MANY SMALL STREAMS WILL FLOOD.

THE FLOOD WARNING INCLUDES THE ESOPUS CREEK ABOVE THE
ASHOKAN RESERVOIR.  THE RIVER WAS RISING RAPIDLY THIS MORNING AND
WAS UP TO 9.5 FEET.  FLOOD STAGE IS 11 FEET.  THE RIVER WILL CREST
AROUND 12 FEET LATE THIS AFTERNOON.

AREA RESIDENTS SHOULD MONITOR FLOOD CONDITIONS... AND BE PREPARED
TO MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND... SHOULD FLOOD WATERS THREATEN. IF FLASH
FLOODING IS OBSERVED... ACT QUICKLY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND TO
ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN
WATER BEGINS RISING.
