STORMS FIRING ALONG FRONT NEAR SFC LOW NW OF ICT WHERE SFC WINDS HAVE BACKED. STORMS DO NOT LOOK TO ORGANIZED AT THIS POINT BUT COULD STAY MARGINALLY SVR WITH STRONG NWLY MID LEVEL WINDS AND 30KT LOW LEVEL FLOW. ADAP SHOWS SFC BASED LI OF -6 BUT AGREE WITH SPC MCD THAT THIS MOISTURE IS SHALLOW AND USING AVG BL MOISTURE...LIS ARE CLOSER TO ZERO. OKZ054>076-ARZ001-002-010-011-019-029-141200- EASTERN OKLAHOMA/NORTHWEST ARKANSAS THUNDERSTORM OUTLOOK...UPDATED NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TULSA OK 820 PM CDT TUE MAY 13 1997 ISOLATED SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE AFTER 9PM TONIGHT IN NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA. THERE IS A SLIGHT CHANCE FOR THUNDERSTORMS OVER SOUTHEAST OKLAHOMA AND NORTHWEST ARKANSAS OVERNIGHT...BUT THESE ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN BELOW SEVERE LIMITS. A COOL FRONT WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE SOUTHEAST INTO EASTERN OKLAHOMA AND NORTHWEST ARKANSAS OVERNIGHT. MOISTURE WILL CONTINUE TO BE SOMEWHAT LIMITED ALONG AND AHEAD OF THE FRONT AND WITH THE LOSS OF DAYTIME HEATING...THERE IS A CHANCE THAT STORMS MAY WEAKEN AS THEY MOVE SOUTHEAST OUT OF KANSAS. BUT AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE THAT IS MOVING NORTH OF THE AREA MAY HELP KEEP THUNDERSTORMS GOING ALONG THE FRONT AS IT ENTERS NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA. COLD AIR ALOFT WILL COMPENSATE FOR THE LIMITED MOISTURE TO PROVIDE AN UNSTABLE AIRMASS...WHICH COULD ALLOW ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS TO BECOME SEVERE. THE THREAT WILL BE LARGE HAIL AND STRONG WINDS IN AREAS MAINLY NORTH OF A LINE FROM TULSA TO GROVE WITH THE BEST CHANCE FOR THUNDERSTORMS ALONG THE KANSAS BORDER FROM BARTLESVILLE TO MIAMI. THE INSTABILITY IS EXPECTED TO BE LESS IN SOUTHEAST OKLAHOMA AND NORTHWEST ARKANSAS...AND AS THE UPPER DISTURBANCE MOVES EAST OF THE AREA IT WILL PROVIDE LESS LIFT NEAR THE FRONT LATE TONIGHT. STORM SPOTTERS AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCIE S IN NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR POSSIBLE ACTIVATION AFTER 9PM TONIGHT.
