127 AM MDT FRI SEP 26 1997

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SALT LAKE CITY UT HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 330 AM MDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...

IN SOUTH CENTRAL UTAH

   ...SOUTH CENTRAL AND  CENTRAL KANE COUNTY

AT 125 AM DOPPLER RADAR SHOWED AN AREA OF VERY HEAVY RAIN JUST
SOUTH OF FREDONIA ARIZONA MOVING NORTHEAST AT 30 MPH.  THESE HEAVY
RAINS WILL MOVE INTO SOUTH CENTRAL KANE COUNTY BETWEEN KANAB AND BIG
WATER AROUND 145 AM...THEN NORTHEAST INTO THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS IN
THE CENTRAL PORTION OF THE COUNTY.

RUNOFF FROM THE HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLOODING OF THE NORMALLY
DRY WASHES AND SMALL STREAMS IN THE WARNING AREA.  WATER AND DEBRIS
FLOWS COULD COVER PORTIONS OF U.S. 89 BETWEEN KANAB AND BIG WATER.

RESIDENTS IN THE WARNED AREA SHOULD USE CAUTION WHILE TRAVELING
TONIGHT...AS SOME SECONDARY ROADS AND LOW-LYING AREAS MAY BE
COVERED BY FLOODWATERS.
