THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RALEIGH/DURHAM HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  330 AM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...
 
IN SOUTH CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA
 
   ...STANLY COUNTY
 
AT 1:33 AM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WEATHER RADAR INDICATED THAT THE
ALREADY FLOODED AREAS IN STANLY COUNTY WERE NOT RECEDING. SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS ARE CONTINUING TO PASS THROUGH THE COUNTY UNTIL 3:30 AM.
STREETS IN ALBEMARLE...RICHFIELD AND LOW LYING AREAS THROUGHOUT THE
COUNTY WILL CONTINUE TO BE FLOODED DUE TO HEAVY RAINS EARLIER AND
MODERATE TO HEAVY RAINS THROUGH THE EARLY MORNING HOURS.
 
FLOOD WATERS ARE HARDER TO SEE AT NIGHT AND MOST FLASH FLOOD
FATALITIES OCCUR AT NIGHT.  AVOID DRIVING ACROSS FLOODED ROADWAYS.
WATER TWO FEET DEEP CAN FLOAT MOST CARS OFF THE ROAD.  REPORT
FLOODING TO LOCAL EMERGENCY OFFICIALS IMMEDIATELY.
 
A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS
IMMINENT.  STAY ALERT IF YOU ARE IN FLOOD-PRONE AREAS NEAR STREAMS
AND CREEKS.  WATCH FOR RAPIDLY RISING WATER.  BE PREPARED TO ACT
QUICKLY AND MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED.
