000 TTAA00 KPHX 030045 RRA SVRPHX AZC027-030150- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PHOENIX AZ 545 PM MST TUE SEP 2 1997 * SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR WESTERN YUMA COUNTY IN SOUTHWESTERN ARIZONA * UNTIL 7 PM MST * SOME LOCATIONS AFFECTED YUMA ARABY LIGURTA MARINE CORPS AIR STATION INTERSTATE 8 NEAR YUMA * AT 540 PM MST RADAR INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM 15 MILES EAST OF YUMA. MOVEMENT WAS TO THE NORTHWEST AT 20 MPH. STRONG DAMAGING WINDS IN EXCESS OF 57 MPH ARE LIKELY WITH THIS STORM. BLOWING DUST WILL RESTRICT VISIBILITY TO LESS THAN ONE HALF MILE. HEAVY RAIN...HAIL...AND INTENSE LIGHTNING CAN BE EXPECTED.

THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS AGAIN TODAY ACROSS PARTS OF SOUTHWEST ARIZONA AND FAR SOUTHEAST CALIFORNIA. THIS INCLUDES THE ARIZONA COUNTIES OF YUMA...LA PAZ...AND MAINLY WESTERN MARICOPA...AND THE SOUTHEAST CALIFORNIA COUNTIES OF IMPERIAL AND EASTERN RIVERSIDE. SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE ON THE UPSWING THE REST OF THIS AFTERNOON AND THIS EVENING.
