760 WUUS1 KPHX 092255 SVRPHX AZC013-092340- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PHOENIX AZ 355 PM MST WED JUL 9 1997 * SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR SOUTHERN MARICOPA COUNTY IN CENTRAL ARIZONA * UNTIL 440 PM MST * SOME LOCATIONS AFFECTED SOUTHEAST OF GILA BEND AND ALONG I-8. * AT 345 PM MST RADAR INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM 15 MILES SOUTHWEST OF GILA BEND. MOVEMENT WAS TO THE NORTH AT ABOUT 10 MPH. THE STRONG WINDS CAN CAUSE POWER DISRUPTIONS...HAZARDS TO TRAILERS AND HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES...AND BLOWING DUST THAT CAN REDUCE VISIBILITY SUDDENLY TO NEAR ZERO IN AREAS WHERE PLOWED FIELDS EXIST.
