000 TTAA00 KPHX 062315 SVRPHX CAC025-070015- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PHOENIX AZ 416 PM MST (416 PM PDT) FRI JUN 6 1997 * SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR CENTRAL IMPERIAL COUNTY IN SOUTHEASTERN CALIFORNIA * UNTIL 515 PM PDT * SOME LOCATIONS AFFECTED HOLTVILLE ALAMORIO BRAWLEY IMPERIAL EL CENTRO * AT 415 PM PDT MST RADAR INDICATED SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS 8 MILES NORTH-NORTHEAST OF HOLTVILLE AND 13 MILES EAST-NORTHEAST OF BRAWLEY. MOVEMENT WAS TO THE SOUTHWEST AT 15 MPH. WINDS IN EXCESS OF 57 MPH AND HAIL SIZE GREATER THAN 3/4 INCH ARE LIKELY WITH THE STORM. LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN AND FREQUENT LIGHTNING CAN ALSO BE EXPECTED ALONG WITH BLOWING DUST.

THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS OVER SOUTHWEST AND SOUTH-CENTRAL ARIZONA THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING. THE GREATER PHOENIX METROPOLITAN AREA...CASA GRANDE...GILA BEND...AND YUMA ARE INCLUDED IN THE SLIGHT RISK AREA. THE MOST INTENSE STORMS WILL BE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING DAMAGING SURFACE WINDS...HAIL IN EXCESS OF 1 INCH IN DIAMETER...AND INTENSE LIGHTNING.
