000 TTAA00 KPHX 192354 SVRPHX AZC013-021-200100- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING...CORRECTED WORDING OF CITIES AFFECTED NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PHOENIX AZ 451 PM MST SAT JUL 19 1997 * SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR EAST CENTRAL MARICOPA COUNTY IN CENTRAL ARIZONA NORTHWESTERN PINAL COUNTY IN CENTRAL ARIZONA * UNTIL 600 PM MST * SOME LOCATIONS AFFECTED QUEEN CREEK CHANDLER HEIGHTS SACATON PORTIONS OF THE GILA RIVER INDIAN RESERVATION * AT 450 PM MST RADAR INDICATED SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS OVER NORTHWEST PINAL COUNTY AND EAST CENTRAL MARICOPA COUNTY. THIS AREA INCLUDES PORTIONS OF THE GILA RIVER INDIAN RESERVATION AS WELL AS THE SOUTHEAST VALLEY` OF METRO PHOENIX. MOVEMENT WAS TO THE NORTH AT 10 MPH. STRONG DAMAGING WINDS ARE LIKELY WITH THIS STORM ALONG WITH AREAS OF BLOWING DUST.

SOUTHERN GILA...AND NORTHWEST PINAL COUNTY THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT... THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS MARICOPA... SOUTHERN GILA...AND NORTHWEST PINAL COUNTY THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT. THE MAIN THREAT FROM THESE STORMS WILL BE HIGH WINDS... LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL...AND BLOWING DUST. MOISTURE LEVELS HAVE INCREASED SIGNIFICANTLY OVER MOST OF THE OUTLOOK AREA TODAY. THE AIRMASS OVER MARICOPA...SOUTHERN GILA...AND NORTHWEST PINAL COUNTY WAS RATHER UNSTABLE THIS MORNING...AND AS A RESULT...SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS FORMED EARLY THIS MORNING OVER THESE AREAS. RAINFALL FROM THESE EARLIER STORMS HAS MADE THE AIRMASS MORE HUMID...AND DAYTIME HEATING HAS FURTHER DESTABILIZED THE ATMOSPHERE. THE GREATEST THREAT OF SEVERE WEATHER THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY THIS EVENING WILL BE OVER SOUTHERN GILA COUNTY. LATER TONIGHT THE MAIN THREAT AREA WILL SHIFT WESTWARD INTO MARICOPA AND NORTHWEST PINAL COUNTY. WIND SPEEDS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH COULD OCCUR WITH SOME OF THE STRONGER STORMS TONIGHT...AND OUTFLOW FROM SOME OF THE STRONGER STORMS COULD PRODUCE AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ACROSS THE CENTRAL DESERTS. MANY OF THE THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE MOVING SLOWLY TO THE NORTH THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT...SO HEAVY RAINFALL WILL ALSO BE A CONCERN WITH THE STRONGER STORMS. ....................................................................
