000 TTAA00 KMFR 030223 RRA SVRMFR ORC033-030315- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MEDFORD OR 717 PM PDT TUE SEP 2 1997 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MEDFORD HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 815 PM PDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...... IN SOUTHWEST OREGON ...EASTERN JOSEPHINE COUNTY AT 715 PM RADAR INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM MOVING THROUGH WESTERN JACKSON COUNTY NORTH OF THE TOWN OF APPLEGATE. THIS STORM WAS MOVING NORTHWEST AT 15 MPH AND WILL MOVE INTO EASTERN JOSEPHINE COUNTY NEAR I-5 AND GRANTS PASS BY 750 PM. THIS STORM CONTAINS VERY HEAVY RAIN..STRONG WINDS AND HAIL. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCE WINDS IN EXCESS OF 55 MPH...HAIL... AND LIGHTNING. IF THREATENING WEATHER APPROACHES TAKE SHELTER INSIDE A HOME OR LARGE BUILDING. WHEN LIGHTNING IS NEAR AVOID USING THE PHONE, EXCEPT FOR EMERGENCIES. IF OUTSIDE DO NOT STAND BENEATH A NATURAL LIGHTNING ROD SUCH AS A TALL ISOLATED TREE.
