THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MIAMI HAS ISSUED A
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AND SPECIAL MARINE WARNING EFFECTIVE
UNTIL 625 PM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...

IN SOUTH FLORIDA

   ...GLADES COUNTY

INCLUDING THE WATERS OF LAKE OKEECHOBEE.

AT 527 PM...MIAMI DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM
COVERING AN AREA FROM NEAR THE BRIGHTON INDIAN RESERVATION SOUTH
TO PALMDALE...THEN SOUTH TO NEAR ORTONA. THIS THUNDERSTORM WILL
MOVE SLOWLY SOUTHEAST BETWEEN LAKPORT AND MOORE HAVEN AND
INTO SOUTHERN LAKE OKEECHOBEE BY 600 PM.
 
WHEN THUNDERSTORMS ARE OCCURRING...PEOPLE SHOULD MOVE INSIDE A
STRONG BUILDING. DO NOT STAND BY WINDOWS. DO NOT USE TELEPHONES OR
ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES UNLESS IN AN EMERGENCY UNTIL THE STORM HAS
PASSED. 
 
THUNDERSTORMS THREATEN BOATER SAFETY WITH GUSTY WINDS OF 35 KNOTS OR
GREATER...ROUGH SEAS...AND FREQUENT LIGHTNING. YOUR BEST COURSE OF
ACTION IS TO SEEK SAFE HARBOR...BUT IF YOU ARE CAUGHT ON THE OPEN
