000 TTAA00 KNEW 111949 RRA SVRNEW MSC059-112030- BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEW ORLEANS LA 248 PM CDT FRI APR 11 1997 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NEW ORLEANS HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 330 PM CDT FOR RESIDENTS IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN SOUTH MISSISSIPPI ...EASTERN JACKSON COUNTY AND THE ADJACENT COASTAL WATERS AT 245 PM DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A LINE OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS EXTENDED FROM WADE TO FOUNTAINBLEU. THE THUNDERSTORMS WERE MOVING EAST AROUND 30 MILES AN HOUR. COMMUNITIES IN THE PATH OF THE THUNDERSTORMS INCLUDE HURLEY...PASCAGOULA..AND MOSS POINT. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCE DAMAGING WIND IN EXCESS OF 55 MPH...DESTRUCTIVE HAIL...DEADLY LIGHTNING...AND VERY HEAVY RAIN. FOR YOUR PROTECTION MOVE TO AN INTERIOR ROOM ON THE LOWEST FLOOR OF YOUR HOME OR BUSINESS. HEAVY RAINS FLOOD ROADS QUICKLY SO DON'T DRIVE INTO AREAS WHERE WATER COVERS THE ROAD.
