AT 428 PM CDT SLIDELL RADAR INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN THE
SLIDELL AREA OF ST TAMMANY PARISH. THIS STORM WAS MOVING TO THE
SOUTHWEST AROUND 10 MPH.
 
IF YOU ARE CAUGHT OUTSIDE...SEEK SHELTER FROM THE WEATHER IN A
STRONG BUILDING.  DAMAGING WIND...LARGE HAIL...VERY HEAVY RAIN...
AND DEADLY LIGHTNING ARE ALL POSSIBLE IN SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS.

HIGH PRESSURE WILL DRIFT WEST FROM LOUISIANA TO TEXAS TODAY. AN
UPPER LEVEL LOW PRESSURE TROUGH WILL MOVE SOUTH AND OVER MISSISSIPPI
AND EASTERN LOUISIANA THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT. THE AIRMASS HAS
INCREASED MOISTURE IN THE LOWER LEVELS...INCREASED INSTABILITY AND
WEAK SHEAR ALOFT WHICH SHOULD CONTRIBUTE TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF
SCATTERED AFTERNOON AND EVENING THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE AREA. A FEW
OF THESE THUNDERSTORMS COULD BECOME SEVERE AND PRODUCE STRONG GUSTY
WINDS ALONG WITH HEAVY RAINFALL AND NUMEROUS LIGHTNING DISCHARGES.
