FLASH FLOOD WARNING    EFFECTIVE UNTIL  745 PM CDT
FOR RESIDENTS IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN SOUTH MISSISSIPPI
 
   ...SOUTHERN HANCOCK COUNTY...SOUTHWESTERN HARRISON COUNTY
 
AT 545 PM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR INDICATED A LINE OF
STRONG THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING TORRENTIAL RAINS EXTENDING FROM NEAR PASS
CHRISTIAN ACROSS BAY ST. LOUIS AND WAVELAND AND DEVELOPING SOUTHWEST
ACROSS THE STATE LINE INTO SLIDELL AND NEW ORLEANS. THIS IS A WORSENING
AND POTENTIALLY LIFE THREATENING FLOOD SITUATION WITH RADAR RAINFALL
ESTIMATING NEARLY 9 INCHES OF RAINFALL SINCE EARLY AFTERNOON AND OVER 6
INCHES BETWEEN 300 AND 600 PM IN THE AREA AROUND BAY ST. LOUIS.
 
SHERIFFS OFFICES IN HANCOCK AND HARRISON REPORT SERIOUS STREET FLOODING
AND THIS FLOODING COULD EFFECT SOME RESIDENCES THE NEXT COUPLE HOURS.
 
ADDITIONAL VERY HEAVY RAIN IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE IN SOUTHERN HANCOCK
COUNTY...AND THIS WILL SPREAD ALONG THE GULF COAST INCLUDING SOUTHWEST
HARRISON COUNTY AS FAR EAST AS LONG BEACH BY 630 PM. AS THE HEAVY RAIN
SHIFTS EAST...URBAN FLOOD ADVISORIES OR FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS MAY BE
REQUIRED IN THE GULFPORT AND BILOXI AREAS LATER THIS EVENING.
 
A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS
IMMINENT.  MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.  DO NOT
ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS
THE ROADWAY.  NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL
ONE...ON FOOT.  TO ESCAPE RISING WATER MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND.
